maker lab

The Maker Labs

Housed along with the Fishers Parks office, you’ll find three Maker Lab classrooms to teach, train, and inspire makers to craft their next project. In any of our Maker Labs, you might see in progress a camp, program, or training taking place. Maker Labs will be used primarily during the day for our Maker First program with HSE 5th graders.

think tank

The Think Tank

The Think Tank invites members to map out the beginning stages of their idea. This area is equipped with several tables to imagine, collaborate, and create the blueprint of your design. In addition, our 3 Ultimaker 3D printers are located in this studio area. Members can reserve our Makerbot, Ultimaker S3 and Ultimaker S5. Ultimaker Cura software (free to download) is needed to design and format your file. Makerbot requires an SD card and the S3 & S5 require a thumb drive for your file storage and input.

The Woodshop

The Woodshop houses a Sawstop Professional Table Saw, 20" planer, 17" bandsaw, miter saw, and various sanders as well as our 4' x 8' Shopbot CNC router. In addition, we have a large variety of powertools and handtools available for member checkout on site.

metal shop

The Metal Shop

Whether your new to metal work or a licensed professional, our metal shop has the tools to help your fabrication project come to life. The metal shop features two welding bays capable of MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, as well as plasma cutters, metal lathe, vertical mill, and various benders and grinders.

CNC router

CNC Row

CNC stands for Computer Numerical Controlled machine. The machine computes numbers and measurements to control them through a motor system. This machine is used to route, cut, and create small and large components typically used in manufacturing. Here you can find our Boss Laser Engraver as well as our Plasma cutter. A full 4' x 8' CNC router is also in our Woodshop.

Tinker Cart

Tinker Cart

When you arrive to the Fishers Parks Headquarters and Maker Playground entrance you'll be greeted with an open area of exploration. Here anyone can use materials on our carts to tinker, cut, build and create! It's a great place for mini makers to be introduced to the art of hands-on projects. Visit us during Fishers Parks office hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, to tinker!
